so I built a box..
perhaps this little Octopus might be part of the decorative soldering magic series I plan to offer...I am not sure yet...he isn't "difficult" to accomplish...I think...I need to run it past someone who hasn't ever soldered in such a fashion before I decide...
This is how he began...a blob of wire...in my mind he is sitting on a corner of rock..
There are all kinds of crustacean embedded within
oysters, clams, fish, seaweeds...a mermaid and a lobster
I thought I had picked a picture with them showing but I didn't...they were sort of blurry anyway..
I hope you think he is cute...I enjoyed the day creating him
:)

this is so cool Mary! I love love love it. Did you make the box too? I really like how the edges have the same 'feel' as the little guy on top.
This box is so beautiful...you have done a splendid job on the octopus...stunning. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
I think, he is cool !!
Such creative you.
Does the octopus pick up the lid, or is the top hinged? Either way, I think it's a great idea!
for whatever the reason the comments that were sent for this post were eaten
but to answer daves question
the box is hinged..and the octopus does lift with the lid
and i did make the box as well...when i offer my class the box construction will be part of the PDF...but not on the video
because
the dec solder techniques can enhance so many other projects
such as slide pendants!
This is AWESOME. It makes me want to get out my soldering iron and play. Love the form a bit of wire and solder takes, then turns into an octopus.
THankYOu everyone..:)
Hi Mar,
I hope you had a fun 4th! This is a wonderfully inspired piece, delicate and mesmerizing! Love the decorative textured soldering! Too cool!
That is such a cute little octopus! The box would be great for keeping little keepsakes of the sea in.
What a sweet box! Glad you had a fun day in your studio, Mar!!
Btw....Blogger has eaten several comments on my blog today too!! Hmmmmm.....I want to see those happy faces & comments come back! :>
Wonderful creation here. Very clever!
Hi, Mary! This cute little octopus doesn't look so hard! I can see where I would want to make flourishes out of copper wire and then solder them. You've definitely inspired me! :-)
