This was quite the difficult painting on several levels. First i haven't painted a life painting in a LONG time. Next this child is soooooo pale then this day pinked up by the sun and I wanted the piece to reflect the days events.
Here is the very beginning of the project...I ended up many time with her looking just too old..more like her mother...so a lot of adjusting occurred
the pictures are backwards but I was finally getting her skin tone and then i added her eyes
Here is the final glaze done i used..quiinacridone/nickel azo gold for the final layer...i think it helped lesson the pink and golden up the hair.

Very nice! Love the colors in her hair ;) so soft and touchable. Nickel Azo Gold is one of my fav colors!!
Canvas paper or watercolor? It looks to be bound is why I'm asking.
I think you've captured the wise older soul, in this young child.
Amazing. :)Bea
She is stunning...I love the golden ringlets. I agree I wish I could reach out and hold her like one of my grand children. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
Oooh, wow!! I love how she came out, Mary. And, I emphasize with you saying she kept looking too old. That is a frequent problem I run into, also. Capturing youth with a paint brush isn't as easy as it looks.
Also, I seem to have a problem with blond hair. So, I may have to pick up some of that quiinacridone/nickel azo gold you mentioned. I've never used it before.
well done ,looks good
Good to see your process Mary......and the hair is gorgeous.
