Here is a project Ang and I undertook while visiting with mom in VA...Ang made a special trip to come to me from Alexandria VA...Ang brought flowers and veggie plants galore and proceeded to clean moms outside beds of the old to place the new and updated moms outer sanctuary...I took an old chair and cleaned it up...painted it a color of moms choosing and when we were in town returning a few items found the perfect cushions!
So mom has her sanctuary back to go out and enjoy the outdoors.
My question for today...for you who blog, is it more proper to answer a comment within the comment section?
Usually i answer in an email directly to the visitor...but I see more that answers/thankyou's are given within the comment section.
How do you handle this?

Good question. If the comment comes to my email account I usually answer it there directly back to the person. If the comment shows with Noreply I usually answer in the comment section. I figure the most important thing is to let people know I have received their comment and I appreciate their having taking the time to leave it. I sometimes have to answer all the comments in just one inclusive answer, on the blog. Time is slipping away, you know. :)Bea
First, I LOVE the color of that chair. Talk about a WOW factor!
I much prefer a comment in the comment section on my blog than an e-mail. There are days I don't even bother checking my e-mails and I seldom if ever answer them, since I am never sure what to say (as I know you have noticed). It also means I have to take the time to delete the message, something I would never consider doing on my blog.
Leaving a public comment shows you were nice enough to visit the blog and take time to leave a comment. No one but you and the recipient know you left an e-mail. And I for one, always leave a comment when I visit, even if it takes me a day or two to get there and catch up.
Great question and I look forward to what others have to say.
I forgot to add that I never answer questions in a blog comment. Now how many people return to read the comments? I know people do it, but I doubt most do. Instead, I prefer to answer in the next day's post. That way anyone returning can read the response. I'm sure that more than one person had the same thought or question, so that's why I tack on the answer to the comment(s) in my post.
thank you Bea and Elizabeth for responding!!!
good insight
and great solution E answering a question in the next post...!
i want anyone who takes the time to visit and leave a comment...to see i saw they were here!
so i had adopted the email reply when i was notified in my email box
today i am better aware of repsonding in comment box...i think for awhile i will do both
unless time doesn't permit that and then well...you will just have to come back and see i saw you
i appreciate EVERY visitor and EVERY person who takes the time to leave a comment
thank you too, for becoming a follower!!!
I am better understanding nettiquette practices
again thank you for responding and TY in advance to those who leave a message next!
hi there from a fellow flyer! I will usually reply in my comments and if they have a blog, I take a look and comment back there.
Hi there from a fellow flyer! I will usually respond in my comments and then visit their blog and comment there as well. -Robin
i just visit their blog, if they have one. i don't usually get email address, i don't think?! and i always think they won't see a reply comment if i reply in the comment section. i hope i'm not being rude?!
That chair looks fantastic in red - so bright and welcoming! I have to be honest I usually don't get back to questions that are posted in my comment sections through email- I usually try to respond back to the commentor's blog in return. My email has alot of work related stuff and my blog is a fun place and I try to keep them separate. Take care!
You've created a lovely place for your mum to sit...the chair looks fab!
Re: comments....I try to get back to people via their blog. I sometimes answer by 'reply email' if there's a particular reason to do so.(And if they aren't a 'no-reply blogger'.)
Hi Mar, I just figured this out too! I was emailing back to people at first, but now I just learned how to answer the comments right through my Wordpress backend. Blessings, xoxo Valerie
Hi, Mary! Love, love, LOVE the chair! The whole area just turned out so terrific! Wow!
As for your blog question ... I usually do both. I send the person an e-mail AND answer in the comments so that other readers can see the answer, in case they have the same question. Sometimes, I make my answer into a whole new blog post, depending on the question...
thank you everyone!
I think we have some terrific guidance on answering comments...
it is a wonderful prompt for visiting the visitor...
go blog visiting.
and from now on i am going to be much more active in my comment section
realizing now (i am a little slow) how important the comment section is to be involved in...
TY!
Having been catching up I have now reached this post! I think there is no proper way-as long as you are polite and try to respond then how you do it is personal to you. I like it that you email me when I have visited you and think it is a lovely thing to do. I think I am a bit lazy as I often go to the other persons blog to answer a question. According to Artful Blogging this is not good etiquette as it takes away from the comments related to the post. However, I don't ignore the post, usually commenting on this first. When people answer within the comments section I often miss it as I forget to go back and check! There, my opiniions long windedly described! Have a lovely weekend!
